What GS1 approval means for our users

Our customers are the ones who have made Orca Scan what it is today. Through conversations with our users, we discovered that medical companies globally were struggling to keep up with new FMD and UDI legislation. Traditional pen and paper inventory systems were proving ineffective 📝❌ and they were seeking a more efficient, digital solution.

Working closely with healthcare companies in the US and NHS teams in the UK, who tested, re-tested and tested again, we’re proud to provide just that; a simplified GS1 barcode tracking solution that empowers healthcare professionals to drive efficiencies and improve patient safety.

GS1 is to barcodes what the W3C is to the internet. From the very first retail scan back in 1974, GS1 have collaborated with industries to agree a set of standards that make it possible to track physical objects across supply chains, regardless of country, language or computer system. GS1 approval is a major milestone in the evolution of Orca Scan, we’re proud to help lower the barrier to adopting GS1 standards by ensuring everyone on the planet can capture and extract GS1 data using any device - including their phone
