Orca Scan moves to King’s Parade as growth continues

Cambridge software company Orca Scan has relocated its city-centre office from the Guildhall to King’s Parade, as the company continues to grow and make barcode technology easier for businesses to use.

The move keeps Orca Scan in the heart of Cambridge, where Alan Turing studied mathematics, and The Eagle, the pub where Francis Crick and James Watson famously announced the discovery of DNA’s structure. Its new office, overlooking King’s Parade, gives the team more private space for customer calls and meetings while continuing to provide a Cambridge base for its remote-first team.

The relocation comes as Orca Scan continues to make building and managing barcode systems easier, without the need for specialist technical knowledge. While Orca Scan initially started life as a no-code solution to remove the need for expensive barcode scanners and complex software, it has since evolved into a complete barcode tracking platform that works across everything from smartphones to enterprise scanning hardware. And while it remains no-code, users can now interact with their data and workflows directly through AI assistants, removing the need for a traditional user interface altogether.

The new office also brings a familiar part of Orca Scan’s working culture with it. The team has recreated the blackboard wall from its previous Guildhall office, where ideas, product improvements and the occasional doodle are sketched out before making their way into the platform. Despite serving organisations around the world, Orca Scan has maintained its roots in Cambridge, with its city-centre office acting as a hub for the company’s fully remote team.

The move to King’s Parade marks the next chapter for Orca Scan, with a new home in Cambridge but the same focus: making barcode technology accessible to anyone, regardless of technical ability or budget.
