FMD Barcode Decoder
How to extract data from an FMD barcode
FMD (Falsified Medicines Directive) barcodes are GS1 barcodes that contain specific Application Identifiers to determine the legitimacy of drugs. They contain information such as the batch number and the serial number. Enter an FMD barcode value to see a detailed breakdown of the encoded information.
What information does an FMD barcode contain?
A FMD barcode uses GS1 Application Identifiers (AIs) to explain the encoded information and what it represents. These identifiers directly precede the corresponding value that they define. For example, if the identifier for an expiry date is 17 and the following values are 160725, then you know that this drug has an expiry date of June 16, 2025.
